Day 1

Hand pulled all those pesky stubborn weeds, just to discover a dense system of roots that won’t allow the shovel to go any deeper than just a couple inches at a time.
All those stems belong to the same invasive weed taking over most of the backyard.
Each stem roots itself more into the ground about every foot along.

Daily Accomplishments:

Ripped up most of the above ground weeds along the first third of the garden’s flower bed
Untangled all the vine weeds, I believe to be Japanese Honeysuckle, from the rose and shrubs branches (now you can tell each plant apart from each other, as opposed to them all being connected and covered by the vines)
Dug up most of the roots from the initial layer of soil, and overturned about a yard and a half of dirt
